YES! Research shows there is a 75% success rate for those receiving psychotherapy.
I believe (and research shows) that it’s the relationship between therapist and client that makes the difference. You must feel a connection to develop understanding, trust and honest communication. * Not every therapist is a good fit for every client. It’s perfectly ok to switch to a different therapist if the connection is not there. The most important thing is for you to get the help you need. The client and therapist should have a good sense of this at the end of first session.
Sessions are 45 minutes in length. The number of sessions and length of time you will need to be seen varies but it is no unusual to feel better after the initial session. Clients are generally seen more frequently in the beginning and then sessions taper. I specialize in brief treatment. Many clients find that a handful of EAP (Employee Assistance Plan) sessions is enough. Others need to transition to insurance or private pay after the EAP sessions run out. Sometimes clients who ended treatment call months (or even years!) later when a new issue crops up.
No, I generally do not see others in the family but there are always exceptions. I also would not see a client for both individual and couples counseling. This keeps boundaries more clear, enhances trust and allows your family member to tell their own story without the therapist having pre-conceived notions based on what you already shared.
Not specifically but I do believe that having a strong faith is an asset and can enhance the therapeutic experience. I am supportive of the connection that a client may find helpful through their faith or religion.
No, all adults need to schedule their own appointments.
No. Also I request that personal information not be shared via text or email. Texting is for appointment scheduling only. Sessions are telehealth only (phone or video).
No, you must physically be in the state that I am licensed in for us to have a session.
Private pay rates are $140.00 per 45 minute individual session and $150.00 per 45 minute session for family and couples. If using EAP benefits there is no charge to the client. I accept only a few insurances. When using insurance, there may be a co-pay due at the time of the session (determined by your insurance benefit).
